Billing Specialist -Healthcare Facility

Full Time Position: Monday through Friday 9:00am – 5:30pm
Reports to: Chief Financial Officer

Job Summary: Billing and Collections; specializing in MMAI (Medicare-Medicaid Alignment Initiative), HCI (Health Choice Illinois) programs and Traditional Medicaid.

Responsibilities:

MMAI | HCI Billing: • Check claims for accuracy and submit for payment
• Follow-up on pending claims from previous billing periods
• Monitor claim processing on the online portals
• Take action and resolve issues with insurance companies (i.e. Claims that have not been processed)
• Compare pending UBs with A/R reports to confirm accuracy of claims
• Update A/R reports with received payments
• Keep up-to-date with changes in billing requirements
• Monitor changes in Census & the Electronic Health Record (EHR) to update member enrollment status
• Ensure member information is entered in the EHR
• Maintain Excel logs to reflect status of claims
• Maintain hardcopies of member files
• Keep track of insurance summaries for outstanding account balances

Authorizations • Set-up authorization when required for MMAI & MLTSS plans
• Provide the required documentation for processing of authorization requests
• Ensure that member authorizations are up to date

Education: Minimum of an Associates Degree in Business or related field of study or two-years of experience in related field

Experience: Working within an Electronic Health Record (i.e. PCC – Point Click Care) is helpful

Qualifications:

  • Ability to lift 50-pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Stooping, pushing, pulling, standing, and walking.

Job Description:

The Cook reviews menus and work orders to determine type and quantities of food to be prepared. Prepares meals according to planned menus and standardized recipes in a sanitary manner to ensure the utmost quality with a minimum of waste. Reviews menus to identify all foods required for therapeutic diets before preparing foods using nutritionally equivalent substitutes when required.

 

The Cook operates a variety of kitchen utensils and equipment, such as blenders, mixers, grinders, slicers, and tenderizers. Bakes, roasts, broils, and steams food items to prepare for consumption. Washes, peels, cuts, and shreds vegetables and fruits in preparation for use. Tastes and observes food by tasting and smelling for palatability. Meets meal schedules. Serves meals according to portion control. Slices portions of meat individual servings, adding gravies, sauces, and garnishes as required.

 

The Cook maintains the Dining Services Department according to established rules and regulations. Directs and assists in performing daily and scheduled cleaning duties. Assigns duties to dining services aides as needed. Stores food in designated areas, utilizing knowledge of temperature requirements, food spoilage, and food sanitation. Utilizes supplies and equipment properly and without waste. Thinks and acts calmly and logically to meet unusual occurrences of the job without being thrown off stride. Performs any miscellaneous work assignments, as may be required. Notifies Director of Dining Services or Supervisor regarding supplies of poor quality or inappropriate items.

 

Qualifications:

  • Ability to lift 50-pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 50- pounds. Frequent stooping, pushing, pulling, standing, and walking required.
  • Ability to follow time schedules for meal preparation and dining service.
  • Maintain a neat, clean, well-groomed appearance.

 

Educational Requirements:

  • High School Diploma
