Position Director of Dining Services
Job Information

Supportive Living | Director of Dining Services

Full Time Position- 40 hours per week as scheduled

Reports to: Administrator

Responsibilities:

·     Hiring, evaluating, supervising, training, and disciplinary actions in coordination with Human Resources and dietary employees

·     Scheduling of employees

·     Attend required meetings

·     Maintain budget reports in accordance with facility policy

·     Design menus with appropriate variety of foods at least every four months

·     Maintain appropriate inventory of supplies

·     Maintain a current maintenance manual of all equipment in the Dietary Department

·     Assure that all menus and standardized recipes are followed

·     Continuously reviewing new methods, products, procedures and services to upgrade standards of service with approval

·     Insure that all food served is of the highest quality and is nutritionally adequate

·     Insure that therapeutic diets are served according to the menu as appropriate

·     Must have a working knowledge and be able to perform the duties of a Cook and Dietary Aide

·     Consult with Registered Dietitian on a quarterly basis and as needed

·     Maintain a safe working environment and adhere to facility safety program at all times

·     Insure that staff follows all required dietary procedures including hand washing, temperature recording of both food and equipment to maintain compliance with regulatory agencies

·     Able to perform all other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

·     Minimum 3-5 years of experience working in food service, including a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory role, preferably in a healthcare or institutional environment

·     Completion of an approved Certified Dietary Managers and State Food Sanitation Course

·     Experience and knowledge of food service management in a healthcare facility is preferable

·     Ability to be on one’s feet for extended periods of time.

·     Ability to move around the kitchen and dining area to carry out assignments.

·     Occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.

·     Ability to tolerate up and down movement including reaching above and below the shoulder height.

Overview of Position:

Performs a variety of tasks in the cleaning and sanitation of dishes and cookware.

 

Job Description:

The Dishwasher performs the following tasks: washes pots, dishes, silverware and puts them away; cleaning of equipment and refrigerators as assigned per the cleaning schedule; takes trash out to dumpster; clean kitchen and dish room floors; Utilize supplies and equipment properly and without waste; performs any miscellaneous work assignments as assigned; notifies Director/Assistant Director of Dining Services regarding supplies of poor quality or inappropriate items.

 

Qualifications:

  • Ability to lift 50-pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Stooping, pushing, pulling, standing, and walking.

 

Educational Requirements:

  • Ability to read and understand directions.
